Summer Fun Part Two

One of my favorite summer activities is riding our bikes to someplace for a treat.  Maybe because I just want treats all the time and I feel like we've earned them if we have to work for them :).  I saw a little ice cream shop not too far from us and found a path we could take to get there that wasn't on busy roads.  I thought it would be perfect.  It didn't quite work out that way...  Poor Eli just wasn't quite up to the task of biking the whole way on his little Star Wars bike with training wheels.  I don't know what I was thinking.  So, I spent the whole time trying to motivate him to move, or carrying his bike while he walked.  The older kids spent a lot of time biking back and forth or hanging out and waiting.  After a long, painful trip, we finally managed to make it.  I like to think the ice cream was that much sweeter:

It definitely made for some fun memories.  I ended up leaving Elizabeth at a park with Eli for a few minutes while the rest of us biked quickly back to the car to go pick them up.  It was amazing how fast we made it! :)
Here's a random shot I got of our kids absorbed in watching something on the tablet:
We discovered a fun little man-made lake not too far from our house one day.  It was clean, shallow and perfect for young kids.
Some more playdough creativity:
A possum:
I just love those tiny animals.
We spent our very last day of summer vacation at the beach, because why not?  It was a beautiful day and no one was there, I think because most kids had already gone back to school.
Eli and I had fun taking these:
Nate's started really getting into playing in the waves, which is so fun to watch:
They found this huge crab, which they thought was dead until it started moving around in there:
It was a perfect end to the summer.
