From the mouth of a "2 a half" year-old...

I need to record a lot of Nate's cute little sayings before he outgrows them....

-"Agidator" - alligator
-"Kauai...?" (like the island) - This how he says "Could I...?"
-"Tap-the-tio" - Tapatio (his Daddy puts it on everything)
-"slumb" - thumb--My favorite is when he says "slucking my slumb."
-"Yah-come" - You're welcome
-"I'm bigger and bigger" - It sounds more like "bigoo".  When he's feeling proud of something he will stand up, look down at his body and say, "Look, Mama, I'm bigger and bigger!"
-"Erse-nie" - nursery
-"were" instead of "our" - i.e. "We're going to ride in were car."
-"Mama Daniqua" - Like his sisters before him, he loves the Backyardigans and he likes to pretend that he's Tyrone and I'm Uniqua--except it's Daniqua and he likes to keep Mama in there, too.  So, our pretend time sounds something like this: "Oh no, Mama Daniqua! Agidators!  Let's fight them!"
-We also have frequent conversations that sound like this:
Nate: "Don't do that, Mama!"
Me: "Don't do what?"
Nate: "Don't do anyfing."
He gets in these moods where he's very discontented yet very vague and this is repeated over and over again.
-"Crit-mas" - Christmas.  He likes to tell everyone about the red bat he got for Christmas.  According to him, basically everything we have we got for Christmas last year.

I'm sure I'll be adding more as I think of them....

Nate has a bosom buddy.  Her name is Amara.  Her mom and I swap babysitting so they spend a lot of time together and have developed quite the friendship as a result.  They have the funniest little conversations that always make me laugh.

They other day we had a scare with Joe.  He had this pain and went in to an urgent care place and the doctor there felt sure it was appendicitis.  So he ended up going to the ER to get a cat scan.  Turns out, it was a false alarm, thank goodness.

Anyway, I was watching Amara that morning and I packed the two of them in the car to visit Joe while he waited an eternity for his test results.  They wanted to know where we were going so I told them we were going to the hospital.  As a background, Amara's dad is a podiatrist and works in a hospital.

Amara: Don't worry, Nate.  It's no big deal.
Nate: It IS a big deal!  (More out of a desire to be argumentative than out of concern)

(They repeated this exchange a few times and then things calmed down)

Amara: You getting you shots, Nate.
Nate: No!
(I reassure him he's not getting shots)

They just have this hilarious way of getting under each other's skin.  But then the next minute they're laying down on their stomachs right next to each other, happy as can be.  I took this awesome video of them playing on my phone but I think Nate deleted it.  These pictures will have to do for now...

Nate is also very concerned with his clothes.  I don't know if it's having older sisters or what but I can no longer have any say in what he wears (unless he's feeling very generous that day).  He also likes to change outfits multiple times a day.  It drives me crazy sometimes.

Here he is modeling one of his outfits:
gray shirt, gray shorts, and a tie...

...perfection!

He is so cute. My Ashley has one of those boy buddies. They found each other at church before the parents knew each other. The parents then became friends and we are still best friends today. The friendship started when they were both barely one. Now they are 4 1/2.
