The long-awaited day arrived--Natalie turned 12! She was so excited to be a YW and out of Primary. It was Natalie's year for a party and she decided she wanted to go see a movie with her good friends, Izzy & Mulan. A couple of days before her birthday, we left right after school to grab some frozen yogurt and go see Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindlewald.
I had fun hanging out with those cute girls.
Her birthday came and she requested chocolate waffles for breakfast. Joe took her out for lunch while the kids and I finished shopping for her and then we met to pick out our Christmas tree--a family tradition on her birthday. For her birthday dinner, she requested zupa toscana and Costco baguettes and then we opened presents.
We combined forces to get her something she really wanted--the Hogwarts lego set:
She built it fast!
She also got some other Harry Potter legos:
She also got a mortar and pestle:
Such a Natalie gift. :)
She helped make her cake this year--a chocolate ice cream yellow cake with raspberries:
It was delicious!
We finished off the day watching The Muppet's Christmas Carol. It was a great day.
It was a big year for Natalie--her week away at science camp, her first time at YW Camp, graduating elementary school and starting junior high, etc. She's handled it all so well and is thriving. She's having a great 7th grade year. She LOVES the elective she signed up for--wood class--and even changed her schedule so she could take wood 2 the second semester. She's making some pretty awesome stuff and loves making gifts for people. She's doing great in her other classes too. She and Elizabeth both love hanging out reading in the library during lunch and have joined a book-talkers club their librarian started. She still reads constantly.
She still loves plants and herbs. She's discovered herbal tea and loves making it with mint from our backyard, or drinking store-bought kinds. She loves animals and is always the first one to go play with other people's dogs or pets. She's in heaven at Jon and Jaime's house helping Joelle take care of their chickens and pigs. She loves the rain and the snow. If it rains here, she can't help but go outside and run around in it. I snapped this picture of her one day:
I love watching her running around soaked. :)
She still loves Studio C, and also The Flash. She'll watch The Office and Seinfeld with Joe and I sometimes, too. She's funny and makes us all laugh a lot. She also still loves food and cooking. She's an expert cookie-maker and helps me in the kitchen a lot. I can count on her to do lots of different things. She's always up for a trip to the store. She is helpful and kind and a wonderful sister, daughter and friend.
We sure love our Natalie!
