Nate entered the double digits in September. It's crazy that he is that old now! Once again, he decided to save his birthday money for a big ticket item (Nintendo Switch) so all he really wanted was money to put toward that. He did get a couple of presents from Eli and Natalie:
Natalie made him something in wood shop and Eli got him a game he wanted:
Nate wanted to cinnamon rolls for breakfast, and we went out to Outback for his birthday dinner. Pregnancy sickness hit me hard so going out was nice. Then we came home and caught up on the last few episodes of American Ninja Warrior, which was super fun.
With the money that came in, and the money he'd been saving, and a little bit of help from Eli, he was finally able to get his Switch a few weeks after his birthday. He was super excited and has enjoyed playing on it ever since.
Nate has had a great year. He did really well in school. He loves math and his 3rd grade teacher, Mr. Schneider, would give the class these logic problems and the winner would get a candy bar. Nate frequently brought home the candy bar. The only thing he still sometimes struggles with is giving presentations in class but even in that he has improved a ton. He also still has a tendency to procrastinate on class projects but he comes by that honestly since his parents struggle with that too. :)
He is getting stronger and stronger. He can do things like climb all the way to the top of the climbing rope at the ninja warrior gym:
Or lache from one bar to another:
One day he figured out how to jump rope on a pogo stick. I thought for sure he'd fall and get hurt but he has great balance and did fine! He impressed the neighborhood kids with it and one of them posted the video online. They had fun tracking how many views it got. :)

He's improved a lot in his baseball and basketball skills. He also loves to play football at school and can throw and catch really well.
He is still so kind and has such a good heart. He's always willing to help me. He's nice to other kids at school and is obedient to his teachers. He always prays that we'll be nice to our teachers and friends. He can be stubborn as heck but I think that will serve him well as he gets older. He doesn't like being pressured into doing things he doesn't want to do.
He loves ramen, cold cereal, and is still probably my least-picky child when it comes to food. He loves video games, computer games, and also playing outside with his friends. He loves the song "Whip It" and loves to say how much he hates the songs other people like. :) He's funny and makes us all laugh a lot.
We sure love Nate!
