Mom Quiz

I'd been wanting to do this quiz and Stephanie and Luci motivated me to do it finally. I quizzed the girls separately and just put both their answers on here. I was only going to ask Natalie so she wouldn't feel bad but she actually understood it pretty well. Elizabeth was funny because she answered almost everything in the form of a question and kept asking me, "Was that right?"

1. What makes mommy happy?
Elizabeth: When I say I love you.
Natalie: Learn.

2. What makes mommy sad?
E: When I say I don't love you.
N: Make-sad things.

3. When does mommy laugh?
E: When I say funny things and do crazy dances.
N: Play.

4. What was mommy like when she was a baby?
E: Did you say anything? Did you kick your little feet?
N: Play.

5. How old is your mom?
E: 24.
N: 2.

6. How tall is your mom?
E: 6'5"... 65? (Almost--just switched the numbers :)
N: 26.

7. What is mommy's favorite thing to do?
E: Take care of us.
N: Play garden.

8. What does your mommy like to do?
E: Play with us.
N: Play garden.

9. What does your mom do for a job?
E: Take care of us.
N: Clean up. (Too true, Natalie)

10. What is your mommy's favorite food?
E: Spaghetti. Or..healthy food.
N: Spaghetti. (Spaghetti is actually their favorite food)

11. If your mommy was a cartoon person, who would she be?
E: A girl.
N: Lizabeth.

12.What do you and your mommy do together?
E: We play. And you play games with me.
N: Have fun.

13. How are you and your mom the same?
E: When we do the same things.
N: (silently pointed at all of us)

14. How are you and your mommy different?
E: When we do different things.
N: (Again, pointed at us)

15. How do you know your mommy loves you?
E: You know I love you, too.
N: (Gives me hugs)

16. What does your mommy like about daddy?
E: He loves you?
N: Hug you.

17. Where is your mommy's favorite place to go?
E: To the store.
N: To the zoo.

Beach Trip

For some reason, I haven't been very motivated to blog lately. I started some posts awhile ago and haven't ever sat down to finish them. So, I will try to do that now.

We've been pretty busy lately. We made a weekend trip to Utah to see Joe's dad and his wife be sealed in the temple. It was fun to be with family and we were so glad we were able to make the trip. Of course, I didn't take one single picture the whole time. I'm really bad about that on trips. We drove back Monday and enjoyed some more family time this week since it was Joe's spring break. He had Wednesday off of work so we decided to do something fun for once and go to the beach.

We ended up at Half Moon Bay. These picture are deceiving since it looks so sunny and nice. It was freezing!! The kids couldn't have cared less, though. They had a great time digging holes and running around in the sand.

Running

Digging.
I thought this picture was funny since it looks like Joe is ordering her to dig while he watches. (Really he was doing all the digging)

Some cute pictures of the girls

What a great day!

Small miracle

Like many other parents out there, I often wonder if the work I am putting in to teach my kids will ever bear any kind of fruit. For instance, how many times does a parent have to remind their child to wash their hands after using the bathroom before they will do it without being nagged? 100? 1000?

Well, this past week I experienced a small victory. I am constantly asking Elizabeth to take her plate/bowl/silverware to the sink after she has finished eating. She does so willingly, but would never remember by herself. One day I went into the kitchen and saw this:

She had been eating a smoothie with a spoon and paper cup and actually put her spoon in the sink without being asked! I checked the garbage, and the paper cup was in it (no I don't have a picture of that :). She didn't even do it to score points since she ran off to play immediately afterward. I was so excited that I took the above picture and resolved to blog about this momentous occasion.

Of course, she hasn't remembered once since then... Still, baby steps. Baby steps.

Cool video

I found this video and really liked it. It's some kind of interfaith discussion at Harvard. A young LDS woman who is a Harvard student answers questions about our faith and shares her beliefs. She does a great job, especially considering she's only 20 years old. If you've got 20 minutes to spare I would recommend watching it.

March for Babies

It's that time again. If you've been to our blog recently you've probably noticed the fund-raising widget on the side. I'm going to be participating in the March for Babies (formerly WalkAmerica) again this year for March of Dimes. It will be at the end of April.

I was brainstorming about ways to raise money this year, as opposed to my normal strategy of just begging friends and family for money, and have decided to have a good old-fashioned garage sale/bake sale. 100% of the proceeds will go to March of Dimes. So, if you live in the area and have any stuff that you don't have the energy to sell yourself or cart to Goodwill, I would appreciate donations of any kind. I haven't decided on a date yet but it will probably be on a Saturday at the end of the month or the beginning of next.

As always, monetary donations would be greatly appreciated, too. You can click on the box at right which will take you to my personal fund-raising page. From that page you can even click on "See more at my blog" to read about our experiences and why I care so much about preventing premature birth for all babies. Thank you so much for your support.
