We had fun celebrating another birthday for Natalie. The big 1-4! We did our usual buying of the Christmas tree and decorating on her birthday. Unfortunately, we didn't get very many pictures for some reason. She wanted posters and band t-shirt this year. She's definitely a full-on teenager now! She got the Journey shirt that she's wearing in these pictures (I took some screenshots of the video). Natalie had the delicious idea of having ice cream sandwiches for her birthday dessert. She made these yummy oatmeal cookies and we used our favorite white chocolate raspberry haagen daz ice cream. They were so good! I'm still thinking about them months later. :)
Natalie had a great year, although it was very tough at times. She was loving 8th grade and having everything canceled and at home was hard. Then we moved and she didn't get a chance to see her friends before we left. She was able to keep up with some of them online but it was still hard. No one wants to start high school at home, either. She is so social that quarantine, and moving, might have been hardest on her. Still, she kept a great attitude through it all. She did amazingly well in tough classes her freshmen year. She participated zoom seminary and even though I know it wasn't very fun for her, her teacher told me how much she would contribute. She signed up for her high school's mock trial team and did really well. She collected a whole folder's worth of new recipes that she tried, virtually all of them were successful. She has become an amazing chef. She developed a deep love for NBC comedies over quarantine and introduced us all to Parks and Recreation and The Good Place and finished The Office. She started voice lessons with a teacher she loves and learned a lot. She still keeps us laughing a lot. She is a wonderful sister and daughter and friend. She keeps in touch with her cousins and reaches out to others. She loves to serve. We're so thankful for Natalie!
