We had a pretty quiet birthday for Nate in the middle of a pandemic and new to the area but hopefully it was a good day for him. We had cinnamon rolls for breakfast and then he had online school. He requested homemade pizza for dinner and wanted a pretty complicated picture of Link for his cake. I did the best I could but it wasn't my best:
(He added the extras on it)
Nate mostly just wanted expensive games for his birthday so he didn't get too much but he seemed happy with it:
The girls had fun hiding a little game card inside a Twix wrapper so he'd think he just got that. :)
He's definitely become quite the poser but only when he's in the mood :).
We had cake and ice cream and finished the day with American Ninja Warrior.
Nate had a good year and grew a lot. He was having a great 4th grade year until the pandemic hit and school was at home. That was tough but he was glad to have his friends in the neighborhood still. Moving was tough on him because he missed those friends but I was impressed with how he made the best of it. He discovered gaming online so he could still talk to those friends and I allowed it because it made me happy to see him getting some social time, even if it was online. He's become quite good at gaming and loves the challenge of a new game until he beats it and moves on to something else. He loves the old games on our SNES too and Joe and I have fun playing Street Fighter or Techmo Bowl with him. I think the only thing I can consistently beat him at is the original Mariokart. :)
He still loves sports and physical challenges of all kinds. We had fun using Lizzie’s archery set at a local park for our one-on-one time one night. Here he is posing with his best result:
He makes us all laugh with his funny dances and physical humor. He reminds me of Joe that way. :) He loves swimming in the pool and does that most days. He got a shout out from his teacher soon after school started for being responsible and staying on top of his school work at home. He’s very good at that and I don’t have to worry about him getting stuff done for school. He loves Marvel movies, the funny shows Natalie loves like The Office, and stand up comedy. He's an excellent brother, son and friend. We are sure grateful for him!
